The kids are out for summer, so what should we do? There are a lot of theaters out there that have summer movie programs for kids. A lot of times the movies are free with very cheap snacks (well, for theater treats). These are usually movies that are already out on DVD, but the kids enjoy going to a movie. There is just something different seeing it in theaters than on the home television. Plus this gives us something to look forward to each week. Sometimes we hold off in the year in hopes we can see it in theaters for free over the summer for the first time. I have even teamed up with other moms, either giving one of us a break or enjoying having company watching a theater.
One tip if you go, Go Early, you are not the only smart mom in town!

I love this! Our movie theater used to do this and it was a blast!

This is a good idea for a post! You can link to these summer movie programs, if you want me to send you links, I can help!

We do this – it’s fun! The sad thing is that our theater charges full prices on the concessions.
But the movie is still free, so totally worth it and fun.

I’m definitely going to have to look into this! We hardly ever take the whole family to the “real” movies. It is just way too much and I can’t justify it. Thanks for the tip!

Our theater that participates was recently redone, and is sooo nice. They have a “kid pack” from the concession that includes a drink, popcorn, and a bag of sour gummies for 3.00. For 4.00 you can sub in a box of candy for the sour gummies.
I’m so excited to take the kids. Thanks for reminding me about this!
