Moderation

No matter what product you are using, if you are using too much you are wasting it. Using too much can be costing you a lot more than you think. This is great to teach to kids moderation is a good thing.

Look at items such as shampoo, conditioner, and toothpaste. It doesn’t take a hand full of shampoo to do the job. Actually if you are getting a good lather, you are using way too much. My hair is a good length and I only use a dime size of shampoo and a nickel size of conditioner. You should only be shampooing your scalp area anyway. This is where the oils collect. Anything other than that area you are just drying it out. Conditioner adds moisture back, your scalp does not need this. In fact adding conditioner to this area will make it look oily. Only condition the roots. Shampoo and conditioner should last a few months even with daily showers. Toothpaste is the same way, just a dab will do it. You can always add more if it doesn’t do the job, but it is easier to add than take away.

Good tip! I tend to overdo it sometimes with the shampoo.

Thank you. We did too and it got out of hand. I had bought some shampoo after getting my hair done (I know, not frugal at all) the hair dresser was telling me about this. After spending the money for “designer” shampoo, I wasn’t about to waste a drop. But this is true for any brand. I do not regularly buy shampoo after getting my hair done, but have carried this tip on and taught it to my daughter.
