Making Christmas Special

For many years I thought making Christmas special meant a major event.  We would pay close to $100 or more (not even counting gas) to go to a Christmas show, lights, or other event put on by a major company.

It took a while for me to finally realize, Christmas was already made special by Christ.  There is nothing I can do to top this.  With this realization, I found that my focus was all wrong.  Instead of going somewhere to make a memory I have started staying home and enjoying traditional things.  Hot cocoa, Apple Cider, cookies, etc… with my family. Guess what, less stress and much more enjoyable.

So here are a few recipes that I have found that are fun.  If you have any you would like to share please leave a comment.

Apple Cider

Gingerbread Cookies (still looking for an online version)

Finding Frugal Gift Ideas or the meaning of Christmas?

I avoid the big shopping days and buying tons of gifts.  First, kids of America are being spoiled beyond belief at the expense of the parents credit and savings.  Second, after my child was knocked over for a pair of gloves one year, I have noticed that the people who are out on the big shopping days have lost the meaning of Christmas.

So with that said, as a family we have decided only a few gifts per child each year.  After all, Christmas is not about what we get, but what Christ gave.   Our focus should not be on expensive gifts.  I still get my kids a few things, but ensure we focus on the true meaning of Christmas.

I watch sales at local stores for items we want to get them.  I watch for special coupons in the papers.  I also try to shop at local stores and most certainly only stores who are Christmas Friendly.  And an added bonus, I am not stressed out from participating in over crowded malls or shopping days.

Back to WordPress

I have tried owning my own website and the host I was using just agrivated me to the point of no return.  I’m tired of wondering when the site will come back up.  So needless to say I am back on a reliable source.  I will do my best to remember the things I had not posted yet and we’ll just build from here.
