I avoid the big shopping days and buying tons of gifts. First, kids of America are being spoiled beyond belief at the expense of the parents credit and savings. Second, after my child was knocked over for a pair of gloves one year, I have noticed that the people who are out on the big shopping days have lost the meaning of Christmas.
So with that said, as a family we have decided only a few gifts per child each year. After all, Christmas is not about what we get, but what Christ gave. Our focus should not be on expensive gifts. I still get my kids a few things, but ensure we focus on the true meaning of Christmas.
I watch sales at local stores for items we want to get them. I watch for special coupons in the papers. I also try to shop at local stores and most certainly only stores who are Christmas Friendly. And an added bonus, I am not stressed out from participating in over crowded malls or shopping days.
